Nothing to forgive ... that's why I post this stuff, to help people get into the sport :)

100% cotton work overalls are fine. You'll need to do two things, firstly sew up the slit pockets that you'd use to reach through into the pockets of your jeans underneath (aka: nut roasters), secondly while competing you will need to have the overalls tight at wrists and ankles (eg: race tape will do the job on the day).

Thanks Leon, any idea where I could pick up a cheap helmet? Is Trademe my best bet? Or is there anyone out there who could loan me one for the day??  I really want to do this in my new GTiR, I think it'll teach me a lot about my car..

My spare skid lid is already out on loan unfortunately.

I wouldn't touch a second hand helmet, when you could get a Jetstar open face helmet brand new for $105 from a motorbike shop.

If you get stuck, I can ask around for you.

I hear rumours that crap tires will be the winner on the day (as tires are likely to get chewed up).

Hopefully be there with bells on.

Yep, I would be surprised if tyre's were not killed on Sunday, as the surface does seem fairly abrasive. I'm going to plan on replacing the rear tyres on the Starlet after Sunday.

I've been trying to find one but having no luck so far.. If you could ask around for me Leon that would be really helpful.

Done.

I'll be one of the Scrutineers on Sunday. So ask for me when you're there.

Ok well to be honest I can afford to buy either a helmet or overalls, but not both.. so if anyone can lend me either just for the day I would be their personal slave for ever. or something equally as grateful anyway... I'm 6'2" and of medium build so if anyone has some spare overalls that might fit please let me know!!

I've got spare overalls, and another dude has a spare skid lid.

Now, do me a favour, since I'm the scrutineer for the event. Go tighten your battery down properly, and get some insulating tape, and make sure the positive terminal on your battery is 100% covered.

If you've got any subs etc floating loose in the boot, take 'em out!

Lol certainly can, my battery is nice and tight, and in a box secured to the floor. Is that sufficient or do you want me to cover the terminal as well? I'm not much of a sub kinda guy so don't worry about that. Thanks heaps for all your help.

Argh ... remounted batteries.

Is it in the boot, and is the boot seperated from the driver's compartment?

How's the battery secured to the floor?

Yes it is in the boot, the boot is separated from the drivers compartment by the back seats, but I was going to take the back seats out for the event.. The bracket rods are hooked through holes in the floor of the boot, then go through into the battery box and secure into the bracket over the top of the battery.
