Hypothetical power readings

Postby TRDmod » Fri Dec 08, 2006 5:39 pm

Hi guys

Standard water air intercooler. turbonetics trubo, 17 psi, custom manifold, 3 inch exhaust to the end and 3 inch down pipe no cat, 96 fuel

Power Reading 206 ATW.

If everything of the above remained the same except the WAI instead now it has Front mount AIR to AIR intercooler. WOuld this affect power? less or more?

I guess it would be laggyer down lower, but with the right air flow could have a slightly higher top end but thats more theroy that reality.

I plan to test that very thing in the future with both dynos of a wta and ata with the rest of the car staying the same.

well, ill tell you what i get ay:) getting my car dyno feb next dyno day at torque performance. ill tell ya what happens then

thats what they said that it would get more lag but would have better top end mostlikely, coosl air better especially WAI gets a lil heat soak.

id ont mind lag too much cos i like puke as a track and its a fast one so theres always boost pressure anwyays, so you wont experience much lag as you would in slower tracks

Say you have an average front mount (2.5" then to 3", trademe china special etc...), at your power level you won't feel any difference to power and fuel econ, you won't feel much difference in turbo lag neither.

If you do swap it out for an HKS item, your lag and flow my improve ever so slightly but you won't notice it at all, not at this power level.

but if you have the cash to throw around, why not? Last time I checked the HKS cooler is $2k new, it's all in the end tanks, nobody else notices.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

funny
cos not many people have tried out the front mount.
and trying a front mount, i dont notice a major difference in lag, but funny though, you know when i usd to have that WAI, i used to feel a HUGE kick
but now, i dont feela huge kick but i know the car is still accelerating fast but it doesnt neccesarily kick hard as such... it just keeps going.

ill take to dyno i just wanted to know what people though
i was told that front mount is a foundation for massive horsepower, i was going for the whole 9 yards and changed my mind:D
too much money i decided, so putting that onhold for maybe the further future. so i got the front mount to pave way for huge horse power and 22 psi forged internals computer etc..
perhaps it was a mistake doing it and changing my mind lol

any more feedback let me know
