How Do I Space My Wheels

Postby GT4RGED » Sat Dec 09, 2006 9:16 am

Hey Guys,

My question is, how do I get the wheels on the rear of my widebody GT4 to sit out near the edge of the guards. I have fitted some 17" wheels with 225/45/17" tyres on them, they are the correct offset and everything, but they sit friggen MILES inside the rear guards. I have seen a few GT4's which the owners have managed to get the wheels sitting nicely in line or JUST inside.

I wondered about wheel spacers, but cant find any to fit 5x100 Toyota pattern, and even then wont I run out of stud length?

What is the easiest and best option to do this?

Thanks
Rory

Duh, i'm not retarded, I know with spacers. But like I said I cant find any for Toyota 5x100. The pair above is for subaru so wont this mean they are for a subaru offset? Or do spacers not work that way? Also I dont want my wheel bearings and other parts being loaded up by having $&#$% all length left on my studs.

The wheels are the correct offset, as stated in my first post. As you are probably aware, the wheels sit well inside the guards from factory and they must be the correct offset.

No they are the correct offset for the non widebody chassis i think if you search more you will find you could get differnt offset wheels for the rear to avoid requirments of a spacer.

+35 i belive is the preferd rear for the widebody, if u went and got some new rims from a shop and they looked up the offset needed in the book, it would be the same as the normal celica, gt4 etc and not take into account it being wide body, You should have asked for a differnt offset for the rear 2 rims.

So you would have +25 on the front and +35 on the rears.

ps theres no need to snap, if you ask a stupid question your going to get a stupid answer, you didnt explain what you just explained before.

I read " How can i space my wheels out more " the simple answer is with spacers.

Spacers don't work that way, those will work fine on your car. bearing load wont be too much higher as long as you dont get stupidly thick spacers, i wouldn't worry about it.

I was running spacers all round untill I bought some decent offset wheels.
17 x 9 +35 on the front, 18 x 10 +10 on the back. Fills the guards nicely!

Make sure you get the right screw pitch on the nuts. Those ones are advertised as subaru spacers, so they more than likely have a 1.25 screw pitch, your altezza is 1.5
They'll still work, but you won't be able to use your wheel nuts/lock nuts on the spacer, you'll have to use the nuts he gives you.

I run a 1" approx spacer on the rear wheels, they were on the standard wheels when i got it. They are bolt ons, and my wheel sits inline with the guard. I have 16x8" wheels.

So long story short you didnt buy the correct offset, or you would have asked for what diss1dent got.

Additionally, once you fit spacers you are effectively changing the offset anyway, regardless whether you have correct or not now.
