I'm about to go have this confirmed for sure. Then will post.

Any suggestions in terms of replacement headgasket other than standard? Hks, Trd.

Gen 3 gasket don't actually align properly (the water holes are a bit weirdo), you're best using the good ol' Gen 2 item, I was assured that "it'll be sweet az bro chur chur do mean skidz au!" but I stayed with the Gen 2. Then I end up selling my Gen 3 gasket to another forum member.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

Head Gasket

Postby dzk » Sat Dec 09, 2006 7:20 pm

So are the gen 2 fine? Are the metal hks ones no good or overkill? Im quite keen to swap out my ct 26 and top mount for Grotty's setup that he was selling t28 and vr4 fmic. I went out and went in his car. Its insane!

Well today was different from yesterday. Not overheating now and no bubbles in the radiator. Have stopped and started the car throughout my travels today and I can't get it to repeat what it was doing. Have left heater off too. Temperature not climbing. I had already taken back the standard thermostat I purchased due to the belief it was head gasket and not thermostat.

Where is the plug for the radiator situated so I can unplug it so that it comes on all the time just to be safe. I unplugged the closest one to it next to the overflow tank and no change. I'm beginning to think its a sensor now for the fan as to why it overheated.

Thanks

No it didn't. It ran 15psi on 98 pump gas as my daily driver, this was still enough to leave 90% of the cars on the road behind. diss1dent's evo3 got left behind when it was running 13psi using 96  It only saw the high boost of 18-20psi with avgas in the tank.

The only problems I had with the car were the numerous clutches I killed, the gearbox that decided it didn't like flat shifting, the first ct20b spitting its oil seals and lots of white smoke out the exhaust. Oh yeah and a blocked radiator. Changed thermostat and rad cap, still overheated on a long run. Could control temp with heater. Flushed system a couple of times. Still overheated, then had radiator taken out and cleaned. Problem solved.

Well I'm keeping mine at bay with the heater on full. It appears that the radiator fan/fuse has gone on it. Will take it to electrician tomorrow to get it tested. Still no bubbles in the radiator. From all the plugs I see at the bottom it appears that it is already unplugged. Worst case scenario for this problem could be new/fixed sensor or radiator fan which is a hell of lot cheaper than blown head gasket as it appeared to be this at first.

Your 3sgte Al despite the clutches, blocked radiator and all that still impresses me. When I read all the 3sgte posts on here and here how yours has gone this high or fast it gives me hope.

Akane, Adydas, Sergei, All Fours and yourself are all 3sgte owners I look to when it comes to modifying. I get to see whats tried and tested, dynoed and quarter miled and use this info to influence my decisions when it comes to my gt4.

You guys above have been there and done it. You know what works and what won't.

Thanks

Theres another one floating around on here and mr2.org which is rather impressive. A rather stock mr2, gen1, intake, downpipe, 16psi. 13.4 @ 104mph on an otherwise stock car.
