engine mount help

Postby Dirtbag » Sun Dec 10, 2006 5:37 pm

Looking at replacing my left hand side from drivers seat engine mount on my ae101, gearbox engine mount, quite easy to get to.

Whats the best way to go about it? I dont need to support the engine in anyway do I? Just unbolt the current one and replace it with the new one? Anything special I need to do?

what you want to do is support the engine before you remove the mount.

jack the drivers side of the engine itself up slightly which will take a bit of weight off the mount, then unbolt old one and bolt on new one.

had the feeling I would need to do that, take the tension off it.

Also, the alternator belt is down where the power steering belt is isnt it, back of engine, cambelt side. Do you access it the same way?

well, got it all done today, took about 4 hours (of alot of stuffing around), engine mount was easy as pie, just took a little buffing to get one of the bolts undone. Alternator belt was a bit fiddly, as had to take powersteering belt off etc, always a good feeling when u learn something like this and the fact uve saved 2 hours labour at a mechanic :D
