It wasnt a quote, it was a estimate,

They SHOULD have told you a ROUGH amount of hours needed, and when it was coming up to that point tell you that its going to cost you more,

im in the same boat (graphics design) a customers job could go over the time i have allowd, but it has been explained to them before i start that it is a ESTIMATE, and it could go over the time allowd,

it basically the same for fabricating things, its difficult to judge till you have taken something out, and seen oh well it needs a little bit more work to move such and such, which could only add half a hour on, but when it happens a few times, those hours start to add up

if your not happy with the bill, go sit down and have a talk to the guys and get them to go through it, you will probably save a few dollers,

but if your happy with the work they have done, and the quality of work, is it really worth it ?

You got 2 prices, were both estimates? because you wrote this in your first post...

i simply got sick of waiting and decided to take it into my local garage to get it done, k well their intial quote was $1900

no they did not see the car before undertaking the project as it wouldve been too much hassle to get it in there

ok well when i first went in there, i asked for a "quote" to do the conversion, and throughtout the time they had it we referred back to what we both called the "quote" so i was under the impression it was a quote, but when i looked over the intial sheet they gave, it says at the bottom in small writing, "this is just a price estimate" so that was my fault. In their defence though i do undestand their problem, as the conversion was a lot harder than they thought and also what i thought, and a lot of small little time consuming fabrication things they needed to do, at the end of the day it might have cost a lot more than expected and a lot more than i wouldve wanted to pay but ive finally got my car back on the road, and im stoked with how the 4age goes, so im happy

and ill post some pics of it this weekend when i get my hands on a digital camera

IP rating is the water and dust rating, I think 66 is the highest. Electrical wholesalers etc should stock em.

Just a quick glance and noticed the price of some things are inflated, e.g, cable ties $0.50 each, came to $10 worth, they aint worth that, I can get 1000 of them for $50

I would have thought you could have used the quote you did get which was for more work as a benchmark, I though you cant go more than 10% over a quote?

It looks like they have done some of the jobs good your car and some just ok, possibly two or more people working on it? Looking at what work has been done and what they charged its pretty fair.

Things like the modifed intake manifold looks to be done very well

Where the ecu is mounted has to be the worst thing. There are a few other things I noticed, like what they have done to modify the battery terminal and the breather/air filter on the inlet cam cover wasnt necessary, but pretty minor/fixable.

Main thing is it goes, your happy, small port looks at home in the AE85 and they exterior of your car looks great....

Just treat it as a leaning experience, put it all behind you and enjoy the car...
