Just wondering if anyone knows a place in auckland that I could get my speedo recalibrated.
I've just put bigger mags on my car and even with the thinner tyres they are a bigger circumference, which of course is throwing out the speedo reading.
Rite-o. So your new rear tyres are 660mm tall, the stock 255/40/17's are 636mm tall. Thats not much taller at all aye. Remember your mates speedo is probably reading a good couple kms low also, so although he thought he was on 100, it was probably more like 95ish. I'd check your speedo against the reading from a GPS device (like uniden radar or navman or something). Your speedo will probably be about perfect with those tyres.
Thanks
I've already had one disaster with the rears. When I got them on it looked like they would be fine, but I drove it into work the friday after the new mags went on and noticed my guards were catching the tyres whenever I was accelerating (heavily) and when I pulled into the steep driveway there.
I was mortified to find that the guards had started to eat rings into the tyres! So needless to say I took it straight to mag and turbo to get the guards rolled during my lunch break lol
*stress stress*
It seems ok now, dunno how it will be with passengers in the back thou hehe
Anyway, nows a good excuse to post a pic... if i can figure out how :/
