Brake Bias on st205

Postby TRDmod » Fri Dec 22, 2006 1:50 pm

Hi guys
first of all
i want to know how many percent of braking is on front or rear in my st205

also, something that doesnt involve rebuilding the entire brake system
is there anything i can do to put more braking on the back.

what i am thinking, so correct me if i am wrong (i know you will anyway:))

If lets say most of the force is on front brakes, then if you move someo f that to the rear, then the heat and force will be distributed to the rears and hence giving you more stopping power and head distribution.

is this true?
i want a cheap way to increase my braking power.

any suggestions would be GREAT! OH YES, MERRY XMAS

Probably between 60/40 and 80/20.

Putting more to the back wont get rid of heat any better. You have to remember that under braking the weight transfers to the front of the vehicle. If you have even braking efficiency front and rear then all that will happen is that the rear brakes are going to lock up early and send you into the ditch. Decent pads are usually the best option

yeah as above
some cars can do with a bit nmore bias rear, (MR2s)
but others not.
if you have lowered and stiffend the suspension then some more rear bias may help.

basiclly unless you have spent $$$ and have this on the track, theres no need.

and cheap doesnt come into it.

The better the brakes your car has,

the less pressure you can appy to the rear brakes,
and the faster you stop, the less traction you have at the rear due to weight transfer.

In my car as the front brakes are so good,
if I run anything better than standard $30 pads in the rear,
the brake bias cannot reduce the pressure to the rear enough to stop it locking rear brakes,
