Postby rwd_mayhem » Wed Dec 27, 2006 2:21 pm

does rust in a door make you fail a wof? as its not structural. like a rugby ball sized hole of rust? lol

It depends where the rust is on the door. If rust is around the hinge area and/or where the door latches are it will fail.

Sound like your on the market for a new door 8O

BUT ... iirc you don't need doors for a WOF, so you could always take them off, get your wof then put your doors back on

and yes, I have heard of this being done before and passing...

yep, true story. it was on some old sh!tbox truck which had a bit of rust in the doors, so the dude took his doors off hence removing the rust  then proceeded to get his wof. rules may have changed since this happened though...

Provided its not in the frame it ought to be fine. One of my doors is getting quite rotten but its only the skin. WOF people have never made mention of it.

Should be on the VTNZ website under the VIRM stuff. Rust within 150mm of a hinge is a fail
