What would you do?

Postby solitaire » Sat Dec 30, 2006 11:35 pm

On friday i was at Pak'n'Scream in albany, packing the car.

An indian gentleman "flings" his trolley at the trolley park from about 4 car lengths away. after 3 car lengths the idiot realises that trolleys dont fly straight and he runs after it.

It hits an extremely late model mondeo in the right rear quarter leaving a dent and a trolley shaped mark in the paint... the guy puts the trolley in the park and returns to his car. I yelled at him to leave his details but he jumped in the car and split.

Luckily i got his rego and left a note on the mondeo and the owner has gone to the cops.

Had the same thing happen in the mitre 10 car park once. Was a brand spanking BWM coupe thingy. Some idiot in a primera opened their door straight into the side of it. Gave her the guys rego. The weird thing is the guy saw me writing his rego down and still drove off...how stupid.

Yeah I would leave a phone number or the likes, just incase they turnout to be a psycho! Wouldnt want them know where I live :P I've had my door completely dented in before and If I had seen who had done it I would have bricked them in the face  no note was left

i'd also be the first to write down some c**ts rego if I saw them damage another car, its just plain rude

had some piece of shit leave racing stripes down the whole side of our wagon outside our house one night. was pretty impressive as theyd have to be on the wrong side of the road to do it judging by the way the door skin was peeled.

caused $2k+ worth of damage, luckily i only had to cop the 300$ excess and a % cost of a new tyre.

its the whole reason you have your car insured

You should have walked over and confronted him. That way hopefully you would have aggravated him enough for him to want to punch you. Then you can beat him down to the ground and say it was retaliation. 8)

There's just no point in leaving a small little letter with rego numbers etc anymore. $&#$% won't learn until you physically teach them right from wrong.

Aggreed... I did consider that, small problem though...

a. there are surveliance cameras in the car park
b. i wouldnt trust the police not to lock me up for assault and let him go free
c. it wasnt my car... i care enough to go down a file a report with the cops, but not enough to have assault on my record - sure it probably would not come to that but i was not prepared to take the chance

the owner of the damaged vehicle is going to get his details, call him and offer him the chance to put it right... then goto the cops, so heres hoping that the system will work.

solitaire has it sorted, those people are dodgey as, they are very good at making up their own stories, I have first hand experience many times. Fronting them is not a good idea.

my partners car got totaled by some idiot at like 6 am, he left his details but i guess thats more of his age showing responsibility.

He could have nailed it off with no witnesses seeing it and got totally away with like a few grands worth of damage.

Had a guy reverse into my car twice.
Came out of the store and the front of my car was so bad i had to have the front left hand side of my chasis straightened new bumper lights and quarter panel. Never knew who did it.

Second time i got the guy and he admitted to it, so i couldn't even yell at him as he was so apologetic about it.

So after all that yes i would leave a contact number as i know how it feels to find your car smashed.

i've had many a d!cks hit my car and not care at all, a couple have even done it while i've been sitting in my car. one stupid biatch was actually holding her car door open, then just let it go and it hit my car.

then a couple of days later i was walking out of a shop and my alarm went off and it was some guy opening his door into my car, just jumped in his car and left without even checking to see if any damage was done.

Honestly guys, if you're prepared to park in shopping malls or close to other cars, you'd be foolish to think that nothing will happen to it. I work at a mall, and have had almost every one of my cars left with bumper marks/scrapes down the sides, from other useless drivers, but I don't really care, because I accept its' a risk I'm taking with so many useless, spatially-impaired drivers out there.

Unless you've got a garage-bunny, they're gonna get dented one way or another.. so really, HARDEN THE F**K UP TOYSPEED!

A guy over the road from us had his car rear ended when it was parked, no note was left and they were a bit pissed off but on closer inspection the numberplate left an imprint on the back bumper

Exactly, mall car parks are the worst places in the world to park. I work at a mall too and every day there's new scratches and dents. That's why I drive an absolute pile of sh*t car to work. If you care so much about your nice car, buy a bomb to run round in.

Agreed, I park in the car park the furthest away from the mall, and try and find a park at the end of a row, next to a kerbed off section, then park as close to that kerb as possible, this way only one car is going to park next to you and because you close to the kerb on the other side they have lots of room to get in and out without hitting your door!

As for leaving a note, all I can say is how the fcuk do you hit someone else’s car in the first place? I have never hit some else’s vehicle in my life, a bit of concentration goes a long way!

Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.
