Hey,

Mum has a 96 Toyota Estima - same as Previa. The oil level light comes on and stays on for a little while and dissapears. Happens everytime it's driven. The thing is I checked the oil a few time and its pretty much topped up. Tried resetting the ECU as well. Is it a faulty sensor or wtf?

Try a new sensor. Not expensive. Id assume its not very nice to get at on one of those though.

Do you mean the oil pressure light on the dash?
Does it do it while you're driving, or just stays on for a bit when you first start it?
It does take a little time for pressure to build up.

Could also just be showing you that the light itself is working and the bulb hasn't blown.

Faulty float sensor in the sump that aint cheap to buy new

Remove bulb use dip stick

Yup its the light that reads 'oil level'. Happens when im driving. Jason T sounds about right... May just do that or ignore it.

However, does it make the ECU run the car run in limp mode? Sorry not too familiar with Toyota's anymore haha

Oil level, what will they think of next

Surely if you check the level with the dip stick regularly, you wouldn't need a more expensive float and sensor setup.
Geez, they sure do try to cover all the bases with cars now don't they.
My first car, the fuel light didn't even work! I found out the hard way :oops:

you ARE checking the oil level with the dipstic under the passengers seat and not looking at the oil level in the reservoir under the bonnet right?
