take this with a grain of salt as i know nothing technical about diffs and am the first to admit it.
i have an ae92 gtz gearbox that is definately lsd on my garage floor awaiting a rebuild at the moment. mine has a trd plate lsd of some sort.
my diff is buggered now.
it will turn both when i turn one if both wheels are off the ground. but if I have only one wheel jacked off the ground it will turn independent of the other one.
im fairly sure when it was not worn out i used to be able to jack one wheel, and do/undo the wheelnuts on it as it would move about an inch and then lock.
if you need any pics for comparison its easy for me to get them now.
apparently when you look through the middle where the shafts go you should be able to see through unobstructed.
