Haven't done it yet... but doing it this year.
The prices etc that I've seen so far it'll add up to around 4/5K for a decent jobbie...

That includes a piggy back ECU as well.

You can do it on the cheap, just need an adaptor made to make the twin exhaust manifolds into one flange, then put on a smallish single (one that the factory ECU etc can handle) then do your oil lines and manfolds...

not *that* expensive, but a little rangi.....

ive kust single turbo'd a 1g, should be same process, just make a y pipe from factory manifolds and bold a straight t4 or similar on, std ecu should handle it, just dont crank huge boost into it.

ive heard modding the factory manifold is not a good idea because it doesnt last or seal properly.

Mr Dori is yours running sweet?

Really hard to get a good weld on the cast manifold apparently, but i think what MrDori was trying to say was make a bolt on Y pipe that connects the 2 stock manifold pieces and has a turbo flange on the other end.

These are the pieces im talking about:

this is where the stock turbo bolts on, indicated with a red line

Ah I see...guess you would need the right gear to make the adapter. I dont think ive ever seen one of these rangi adapters anywhere tho

yeah you'd need to get some flanges made up and pipe bent, then cut the pipe the right lengths and weld it all together, way less hassle to just get one of the stainless manifolds off trademe if you chose to go single.

for single turbo conversion you will need:
a turbo, which you told me you have and from the sound of it its not massive so it would probably be alright
a manifold
an external wastegate if the turbo doesnt have an internal one, or if you just want that cool sound :P
a blow off valve (you could be cheap and use the stock one, just make some kind of adapter to fit it to your new...
intercooler piping because the standard piping aint gonna fit now
intercooler i guess thats kinda optional you could try to use the stock one, but those are pretty crap so you should get rid of it anyway

theres a fair bit of labour in there, and you would want to get your air/fuel ratio checked on a dyno to make sure everything is sweet

I was going to make a y pipe but i decided to make a new manifold so i could sit the turbo in the right place.

But if you read drift battle they have just put two t25 sized turbos on there 1j using std manifolds, have alook into it

A turbo from a series 5 rx7 would be a good one for a 1j, big exhaust housing for flow, and they are pretty cheap - around $250 for a good one

Why the hell would you want to rangi up the standard manifold to fit something else?

Spend the money and do the job properly...
