right rear drum brake binding - easy q

this i'm thinking will be a simple question to almost every one but i don't know the answer

failed a wof on rear right drum brake binding, how to i fix it? change shoes? someone said there's a cog in the back of the drum which you can change with a screw driver, will that fix it?

Yeah there is a cog like thing in there, it's meant to automatically adjust the resting point of the brake shoes. They never work properly on old cars.

But even if that isn't working it shouldn't cause binding.
I'd say just pull it all apart, clean it, then re-assemble it.

Could also be the wheel cylinder has gotten a bit rusted up with age and jammed partially open. Make sure its able to be pushed back in easily.
