headlight strengths

Postby nandor markos » Thu Jan 11, 2007 3:10 pm

i have just taken my kp61 starlet for a warrant and i was told the one headlight was weaker then the other, i was told this could be caused by a voltage drop, i have checked out the wiring and some of it looks a bit dodgy but cant see anything that would cause this problem.

just wanting to know if there could be an easy answer as in the bulb is screwed or if it would be something a bit more complicated

When you say you've checked them, does that mean a once over with your eyes or actually running them through a multimeter to check the resistance. Also check things like corrosion on the connectors or marks on the bulb where someone has touched it with their grubby fingers. Remember if you touch it, it'll go blind :P

iv run relays and 'bout 6 gauge wire for my lights, made a massive improvement even with the same bulbs.

thanks for the info, i just swapped it with another standard bulb and it seemed to do the trick, and also check all the wires with a multi meter just to be on the safe side and as rugged as the wiring is it all works
