Steering wheel vibrating - help?
I notice that when I accelerate to say 110km or 120km, sometimes my wheel shakes. I have a 98 gtt caldina. The wheel more vibrates, not a violent shake, I am wondering if I need to get the wheels balanced? It has got the factory 15's with cheap, new enduro's on. I 've had the car for about 3 months.
Any ideas? cheers!!!

i have a similar prob in my car (97 gtt), got it checked and found that the crap nankangs that were on my car had flat spots all round them and one wheel wasn't perfectly found so it wobbles a little... not much to do except replace rims and tyres...
Driving a honda is like being in the special olympics. Even if you win, you're still retarded...
Yep if its just a shake through the steering wheel it suggests just the front wheels need balancing. At work we also check for flatspots, a buckled rim or tyre seperation which will cause shaking also. As the tyres wear they change shape slightly therefore need rebalancing. The back wheels arnt so critical however if they are real bad you would notice a shake through the whole car rather than the steering wheel.

These days most tyre shops use computerised alignment machines which are very accurate. At our shop once we've done the alignment we test drive the customers car to ensure the steering wheel is dead straight and the car is driving perfect. However what some people don't relise most cars just have front/rear toe adjustments such as corollas, familias etc so if the front caster is out by a mile for instance it may still cause the car to pull. Our customers seem pretty satisfied however there may be the occasional that has a rant cause hes badly bent a suspension part and thinks the wheel alignment was going to fix it...

sounds like a balance , u can bring it in to me if u wana check , but on another note why the hell r u putting enduros on a car that should have half decent tyres on it ? Enduros and sum of the cheaper brand tyres can delaminate or go out of round , and one thing i have noticed is that enduros wear funny and can cause a bit of a shudder , and are an annoying block pattern that dont generally ride nice and can be quite noisy .

Haha yeah should have mentioned that, they are firestones budget tyre but are gradually becoming replaced with "Supercats" which have a way better tread design
