Goddamn, I should have registered my Skyline as a TRD one and got a couple of stickers. That would have been awesome, resale ftw.

I have a friend in Japan who has talked about his neighbour who owns some kind of "TRD Mark2" with a 2ltr Super Charge I6... 1G-GZE...

As for the Curren.... probably someone's told the owner its a TRD and hes a little mis-lead rather than claiming something that its not...

Are there any TOM's T111 levins in NZ? Could be confused with one of them.

rolf

had a 15 minute discussion about how trd dont do a factory trd mr2. he took me outside and showed me his cool metal badges (that someone had stuck on there) and how it was definately a trd one!

then after being shamed out by another toyota enthusiast that cam along to join the discussion... he started ranting about his mates factory v6 twin turbo mr2.

this guy obviously was into punishment :? i laughed so hard i had to walk back inside and sit down

Well it probably wasn't one of these but how wicked awesome would this be :D TRD Factory MR2, yes they do exist...

There is a standard production version of the Curren known as the sports selection or TRD Sports.

It is basically a trim upgrade and was only available on the top ZS model, additions included:

-TRD Gear Shifter
-TRD Steering Wheel
-TRD rear wing
-TRD Badging

It weighs in at 1180kg (vs 1170 for the standard ZS), or 1210 for the auto version (vs 1200 for auto ZS).

It also has a larger turning radius 5.5 vs 5.2 which suggests it probably had super strut suspension as standard.

Standard ZS Curren model codes:

ST206 DCMVF
ST206 DCPVF (auto)

TRD sports model codes:

ST206 VPMVDA
ST206 VPPVDA (auto)

Pelo: Dammit, you beat me to it :P

And first giveaway that this is BS:

the engine itself is the TRD model of the 3SGE bored out to 2.2L

Yea right, I'd like to see what happens to a 3S when its had enough bored out of it to accomodate an additional 200cc!

Second giveaway:

cars is as quick as it is pretty.

I need not say anything.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.
