Anyone know about a TE27?

Postby solitaire » Sat Jan 13, 2007 2:40 pm

Hey, Bit of an odd question...

My Late father sold his pride and joy, a TE27 (i think) Corrola with a 3K (1.2) engine. It was dark green, very close to british racing green sort of thing. It was sold to a family friend around about 1990, and i think it was sold on after that... the car used to be in west auckland (royal road area)...

I know its a real long shot but has anyone seen anything matching that description? It highly possible its been crushed but im just curious.

The TE27s came with 2T engines, if it had a 3K it would have been your run-of-the-mill KE25. However, the TE27s did come out in British racing green, and I haven't seen a KE25 in that colour, are you sure it had a 3K?

If it was a TE27 it would be badged a levin, have a 2T engine, T50 gearbox and worth quite a lot now. However since you said it was a 3K it would've been a KE25, which shares the same chassis but has the K-series engine, K50 box there are plenty of them in comparison to the TE.

Hmm... I cant say for sure...

the only reason i said it was a 3k is because wiki said that that was a 1.2l engine and i have an early childhood memory of my dad saying it was a 1.2.... i THINK... but im not sure... :(

The main reason i thought te27 was the appearance of the boot...

It had a 4 speed gearbox, the interior was a nasty black fake leathery substance, the glove box had corrola on it... i dont remember ever seeing levin.

I just looked at a couple of ke25's on trademe and i think you right... its a splitting image of it... the ke25's would of come in green wouldnt they?

There is a KE25 around these parts in BRG, with tan-ish vinyl roof. Looks very tidy, but I've never seen it right up close.

was it a woodgrain dash? and centerconsole? If not then it was a SL and not a SR coupe, narrows it down :P

The interior was identical except instead of woodgrain it was black plastic... what model would that likely be do you think?

Yes, as kharmis also says above , SL got the black plastic, SR got the woodgrain.
