Electric Window Problem

Postby postfach » Mon Jan 15, 2007 6:06 pm

The passenger side window in my car doesn't work.

I've checked the continuity on the switch, it seems to be working just fine.
Ive put bits of wire between the connectors in the plug, simulating a switch, and the window goes up and down exactly as it should.

So, the switch tests ok with a multimeter, and the wires work, wtf is going on here? I've been fiddling with it for quite some time now and I really can't seem to figure out whats happening. Have I missed something?? I've tried 2 different switches, both tested exactly the same, and it didn't work. Tried 2 different door looms, and it's always the same.

Someone please help! :(

I considered that too, took all the wires out of the plastic plug bit and put them directly on the switch, made sure all contacts were tight, still no go.

I thought it might be something in the wiring between the 2 doors but the fact that it goes when i bridge wires on the passenger side leads me to believe all that wiring is fine.

Ahhh legend that worked perfectly, much respect! :)

This should possibly be an FAQ, I would imagine I'm not the only one with dodgy electric windows.
