Hey,

I've got a 4agze longblock with stripped thread in one of the exhaust manifold bolt holes. Does anyone have a helicoil kit and could help me out or suggest someone who can?

Its sitting in the garage at the moment but could bring it to wherever (just need to get someone to help lift it into the boot lol)

Any help would be appreciated.

One of the boys at my work said they'd do it for a dozen Tui.

If you can bring the head down, just organise a time.

What size is the hole??

He said he'd drill it, tap it and helicoil it.

(we in Seaview / Gracefield)

Nah no point if he only needs one. Alot of engineer places sell a kit which has about 5 coils and a handle for about $20.

you'll also need "tap and die" kit like this to cut new thread for the helicoil

dont need a kit like that , you just buy the tap and put it in ya battery drill :wink:

well...that's kinda hard to keep it square. you also need to stop and reverse often while cuting new threads if you want a good and neat job done

Not yet no, the car has been put a side. Had some stuff to do on the other car for its wof.

I might take up your offer but problem is its not just the head (whole long block) and can only do on weekend due to work.

Cheers for the offer dude but I had it done by Kerry Lindsay the other weekend because I needed it done asap so I could get the engine in over the long weekend (its in by the way..damn fwd's are such a CNUT!) :lol:

i didnt find doing my gearbox tooo bad. coulda been worse , woulda been easier with a hoist tho. would have only taken like an hour to get it back in if i had realised there was a dowel on the same hole on both the box and engine earlier :roll:

i dont have the luxury of dropping the block off somewhere tho might just ask round work, someone will have the right sized tap and bits i can borrow.
