ae101 amp power cable

Postby AE82 FXGT » Sun Jan 14, 2007 10:04 pm

Hey all,

I'm in the process of installing a clarion headunit, a fp402 amp and some jaycar components in to my levin.
I plan on putting the amp under the passenger seat.

It's all under control except I don't know how to get the power cable for the amp (and a smaller one for the head unit) into the cabin from the engine bay.

I took out all my carpet today for a general clean up, and noticed that there is a small rubber plug in the floor. I know it's generally a no-no to run power cables under the car. But thought if I use that plastic protector stuff and lots of insulation tape...

I'm open to any other suggestions as this would be a last resort.

Should be a bung in the firewall somewhere around the air con lines from memory. Or pull off one of the wheels and the plastic trim above said wheel and you should be able to follow wires from the engine bay to the cabin that way.

I tried searching for any spare rubber bungs along the firewall, I'll try searching along the aircon lines tomorrow and see how I get on.

I found that mine went through the same hole as the main loom, tight fit but it does work.
Save it for the Strip

My amp is under the drivers seat... (less likely to keep moving the drivers seat back and forth) plenty of holes in the firewall there for the instriments etc... about half a foot or so above the pedals... your better to find a bung in the engine bay and work back...

We fed the 8g amp cable through the throttle control cable hole in the firewall. It is a perfect fit.

The easiest way seems to be through the passenger side guard...
I'll try there first.

Thanks Guys
