sending bonnet to sydney

Postby deaf_rattle » Fri Jan 19, 2007 7:48 pm

I have someone interested in the bonnet off the mx83, but they live in sydney. im guessing postage will kill the purchase. but how would one go about sending such a thing, and how much would it likely to cost?

will start ringing companies up if i get the go ahead.

cheers

you'd have to track down a wooden box / pallet box (is that what they call them?) to pack it in to, anything other than that & I would imagine it would end up being damaged in some shape or form with the amount of hands it will pass through.

But as you say, shipping could be the killer here :?

If you are going to makeup a wooden crate make sure you use treated wood. The aussie customs will ding you at least $80 extra for fumigation if it's not treated. The advice I was given was to use customwood, which they don't worry about at all.

And yes, freight is a killer, I sent a complete AE92 loom and computer to Adelaide and it cost me $170. I still have to send a complete dash and heater units over as well :S
