Ive been quoted $1300 and $900 just for the clutch kit!
Anyone know where I could find one at a reasonable price?

Unfortunately I don't.

But they are generally a tad more expensive than the normal. 900$ sounds about right for a decent clutch if you are replacing yours.

Who have you contacted for prices so far?

Ive spoken to a couple gearbox places think one was called the gearbox shop.
$900 sounds quite expensive for a clutch since ive seen people buying new ones at 250-300mark. But i guess the r series box uses a more expensive clutch.

Ring BNT and Trade Parts. Trade Parts are off of Wairau Road from memory. They did me a really good deal last time.

yip yip the JZA70 manual and MA70 manuals have the same clutches - providing they are R154's

I got the SPEC Stage III for my JZA70 and it was mint... handled everything i threw at it ;)

Here is the Link for it...

I have a spare clutch if you are in need of one to get rebuilt?

Just let me know.,... tried selling it a while ago but no one wanted it. disk is rooted but the pressure plate is all good!

By the way, its a pull type.

Your in for a bastard of a job....
(both finding one, then putting the thing in)

$900 i think is about what toyota quoted me for a standard replacement kit. its significantly larger than most other clutches that people buy for ~$300. Plus its a pull clutch which adds expense.

in the end i pulled out the plastic fantastic and ordered a 3puk TRD from Warwick (had to come from japanland though)

however there were some clutches on trademe for about 600$ at one stage.

other option is having your current one rebuilt. (or if you dont want downtime you could have my old one for next to nothing (ie beer :P) to get rebuilt)

Bastard alright!

i would recommend pulling the engine in one and doing it all outside the car.

muuuuuch easier... i got pulling an engine down to a art at one stage :)
