hw can you tell if a turbo is steel shaft or ceramic shaft ( no dodgy coments about the word shaft plez ) :P that aimed at you pies lol

give it a wack
if it chips it ceramic..if it bends its inconel
and just for inrest if its inconal
its non magnetic :d

measure electric resistance ;).
Ceramic = insulator.
Metal = conductor (providing penetration of oxyde layer which is insulator - dip the probes into phosphoric acid or similarly weak/dilueted acid and measure with wetted probes, this should penetrate oxyde layer).

Now you all realise its not the shaft thats ceramic, its turbine wheel aye.

You should be able to tell the difference between the two just by looking at them. The ceramic one is a lot thicker. Ive got a pic somewhere comparing the two(well a ct26 with a GTT turbo) the difference is obvious
