mates gota dx corolla i just fixed and put motor back in, he pulled motor out and didnt take much notice of wiring, im left with 2 wires off the coil, 1- / 1+ the positive i think goes on back of dizzy but not sure of negative, can it just be earthed somewhere? i did try this but im still getting no spark at all from the coil,
does anyone have a ignition wiring diagram or could someone shed some light on this problem for me..

thanks in advance

Yes, earthing the coil just anywhere will give you no spark, as this would make the coil run all the time, and its the turning off of the coil that collapses its magnetic field and gives you spark.

This is acheived by the coil earthing through the points in the distributor.

So you need to attach the negative to same place that the condenser is attached on side of distributor.

Its also possible that the negative your reffering to is the tacho signal wire as well so double check that.

The coil will need a pulsing negative (from the coil) and a power feed when the key is on. You get those 2 and you should have spark

dont you mean from the dist?

And thats right, just make sure youv'e got + 12v to ballast resistor and +12v/+6v To coil positive. Just check with a test light, and make sure the 2 negative wires off the coil go to the tacho, and to the distributor
