Classic cover, a far as I know doesn't require an age limit as such, I guess it helps to own something vaguely considered a classic/exotic/vintage/old car, but the main stipulation is that the vehicle is only used infrequently.

Rego for "vintage" cars gets cheap once they're 40 years old.

Bah, thats a whole 4 years away :(

Cant be long until they change that age rule. Be scary when DXs are classified as vintage

Yep, as stated eariler, my 1992 MR2 is covered by classic.
Guess that makes exotic because it aint vintage/old 8)
Its fully caged etc, but as per the insurance agreement, I'm not supposed to do more than 8000 km a year.

Insurance, who are you with?

Postby Mark H » Wed Jan 24, 2007 1:36 pm

I've got my Caldina GT-T insured with AMI. Costs $468/year (full replacement cover, including glass insurance), which is quite good. I can't say anything bad about AMI. I was with Tower prior to that, but they're nowhere near as good as AMI, in my experience!

State, third party on
MX5
EE90
KP61

All $84/year (each).

Being old for the win.

Also worth mentioning, I told AMI to stick their insurance somewhere uncomfortable when they devalued the agreed value on my 1998 NZ new Corolla down to about $3000. Now ... you want to try to find me one of those for $3000? Tui ad.

To change this value, they said I would need to provide two other written valuations. So I told them to stick their insurance, and cancelled my house contents insurance as well. I'm not dealing with AMI again.

John Rae Insurance
noeline@johnrae.co.nz
Tell her Leon sent you ;)

They don't charge anything, as they get a commission from the insurance company for insuring you with that company.

Can second that. Dealt directly with Noeline on the insurance for the KE25, gave her all the details & she did the rest. Very very pleased with the service they provide & as they deal with vehicles like this ALL the time they understand what they are dealing with, unlike others.

Once again, cheers for putting me in contact with them Leon 8)

For the starlet, with State, $300/year, 3rd party fire and theft

For my Levin, with NAC $1379/year, probably due to having speeding fines within the last few years
