GT-T turbo problems

hey all, i got a '99 GT-T caldina tiptronic, over the last few days the turbo has started "whistling", it has a k'n'filter panel filter so its makes a sucking sound more than standard but its a really noticable whistling and the turbo at round 4000rpm feels like its kicking in and out of boost. anyone else with a 3sgte come across this at all? thanks heaps for the help

how many k's has it done?
the turbo's are known for giving issues, also the exhuast manifolds warp along the head face

195xxx high i know but it has been serviced at toyota regularly, iv goten my brother in law to have a look tomorrow as he's a toyota expert, built a fair few.....MADLUX hilux minitruck, PHATDX turboed dx wagon and a few more. hasnt lost power tho, still pulls harder than a school boy

id be looking for a boost leak or leaky diaphragm.

wouldnt be driving it as is anyway, the whistling could be the turbo making 30psi and only 15psi getting to the engine.

Is it just me or is there a fair few people having problems with their 3S-GTEs at the moment? I cant be sure but it seems to me that the problems are kinda similar to.

My 3SGTE has misfiring / jerking issues when accelerating hard but the misfiring is real random; sometimes it will be real bad sometime better. I reckon its a vacuum leak on a hose just before the turbo and from what I hear even a small leak can cause all kinds of problems.

Sounds like you have some type of air leak to.

omg its a 3sgte global breakdown!!! i got a guy having a look tonight and i will let you guys know, but yea it jerks and is whistling hard out and is boosting harder than before

my bov made a whistling sound when it was leaking on the pipe that joins up with the intake. could be a leak in a number of places ah.

yea my brother in law said it sounds like that to, but going to take it apart and have a look, and mr2sik dont u like me in that dress? i thought it was a good pic of me
