1ggte idle setting?

Postby quick6 » Thu Feb 08, 2007 6:55 am

Anyone know how to set the idle on a 1ggte? I have recently changed computers and lost my long searched for links associated with this engine, but from memory even the tsrm was fairly vague on this subject. I need to set my timing but the car has a variable idle, mostly at around 1200 rpm but always high, making this pointless. Probably wants the iacv cleaning out to, so if anyone has any idea how to do that also that would be great.

I've always just turned the screw on the T/B beside the TPS to adjust how high/low it idles, and then just used a timing light to change the timing.

Cheers, that got it sorted. I am embarrassed to say how long the car has had that problem and for some reason I was dead sure it wasn't that screw.

No I havent touched it as the idle doesn't hunt so much as just go up and down (always over 1000rpm though) over a period of hours to days, maybe temperature related? I seem to have it going pretty good now, it's a lot easier to drive in traffic etc. Either way I got it to idle at a stable 800rpm so I could set the timing finally and as I suspected it was retarded. If the problem returns I will be looking into it though thanks.

It was at 8 I set it to around 11. Do you have any problems running higher? I would like to take mine up a bit more if possible.
