ke70 owners please!

Postby Mike- » Mon Feb 12, 2007 8:34 am

hey all, as the title says i need to know a suitable offset for my car, its a 85 ke70 wagon and at the moment ive got some 7" hotwires which stick out from the guards, and i dont want to spend to much on panelbeating to make them fit so i am after some 17" or similar, and want to know what sort of offset i need for a 7" wide rim to fit under the guards. or is 17" too big and better off with some 15'?

and also is it the higher the offset number the further the wheels will stick out, or vice versa?

any input appreciated

regarding offset, the lower the number the further they'll stick out. hotwires should be sweet on a ke70 with the right choice of tire.

I had a feeling this had already been added to FAQ, but must be wrong.

i put some 17s on my sedan and wasnt too sure how it would work out but it did perfectly almost in the end.
i had some momos i picked up dirt cheap so i put them on my old honda and thought they looked alright and then put them up against my ke70 and they sorta suited it
so went to mag and turbo and sussed out stud adaptor plates which cost me about $230 i think, before even asking anyone if the wheels would stick out the guards or doing any measurements myself, just went and bought em. thought they would definatly be too wide because the mags are 7.5'' wid instead of the more common 7'' PLUS the stud adaptors were 25mm wide and looked about a mile too thick.
got home whacked them on along with the 17s while the car was standard height and they stuck out the front guards about 5mm if u looked straight down on the guard, and the back were inside but when the car bottomed out with a full carload that night the lip on the back guard chewed up the sidewall on the tire. so got my guard lips professionally rolled and lowered the dx.. looked pretty cher but when i hit a bump the rim yes RIM not the tyre was hitting the rolled bit on the guard and chewing that up because of the 7.5'' wide rim and 205 width tyre was sort of stretched across rim and the lip on the rim stuck out(really easy to kerb my rims). so i got a mate with a laithe to take the width down to 19mm on the back and ended up with the wheel perfectly sitting in the guard with no rubbage at all :)
i think the rear wheel arches should be the same wagon or sedan

the wheels were 40 offset not sure 40 + or -. whatever offset will fit hondas.
stud and offset adaptors also makes your selection of mags alot wider...anything that will fit honda for me :)
heres a pic, i tried to choose one to show how the back guards are filled outImage

hotwires are made by cheviot and ROH amungst others.
the majority of wheel offsets are inwards for fwd and 4wds. tho there are also the mean rwd offset that stick out past '0' offset.. ie -8 or whatever.. i can never remember if its '+' or '-'. so it depends which side of '0' it is.

i have konig rewind 15x7 '0' offset rims on my ke70 coupe and they're pretty flush with guards.. so anything 7" wide with a little inwards offset should be sweet too. the more offset you have the closer the rim comes to the strut... so theres a limit to how much offset you can run. offset also affects bump steer.. if it sticks out heaps it'll tend to bump-steer more
