Lubrication

Postby solitaire » Sat Feb 17, 2007 8:51 pm

I'm a dick...

Bought a ac pump, it was filthly,

degreased it and the tensioner that came with it... now i am concerned that there is no lubrication for it... ive tried crc and it still sounds a little noisy for my liking...

anything in a can that i can spray into these things that will deep penetrate and lubricate

A/C systems need a special lubricant so i would not put CRC or anything in there

Sorry i always leave out crucial information...

I kept the degreaser out of the actual pump fine, and the tensioner wheel for the belt and the actualy ac pump wheel got some degreaser in it... so i sprayed a little crc onto as a friend advised me to do so as he was watching...

So im spraying the tensioner wheel and the ac pump wheel.

If i have rooted it let me know... id rather buy another second hand pump and do it right...

if AC clutch is not on, the only spinning part is the pulley and pulley bearing. The internals of AC compressor are not spinning.
So with the AC off what you should see is stationary clutch (middle part of the pulley) and spinning pulley. If it makes noise it is probably because of the rust on the clutch. If you are going to use the AC just as an Idler you can safely remove the clucth unit completely (single 10mm bolt in the centre).

Thanks man...

I'm keen to have the ac... and its probably fine but if its possible to spray some sort of lube in there to ensure its nice and greasey id happily fork out the coin to do it...
