I would first look into getting the car road legal over there.... As I think you will run into major problems...

But,

Express logistics in Palmerston North get my vote, ill go dig the number out for you.

Correct. I wouldnt be able to import my Hachi over even if it was brand new, it doesnt comply with compliance / front structure laws or something similar.

Which is a real pain in the ***.

First there are the Federal laws http://www.dotars.gov.au/transport/safety/road/bulletin/importing.aspx. Then there are the state laws. I'll let you search for those if you still think it's a good idea after wading through the above documents

How long are you going for, you can get a 12 month temp reg.

I've just been looking at this today as well, but it pays to get the OK first

good Gt4's in aus are still over 11-12K for basic specced clean examples ( aus spec idebodies )

JDM imports are around 6-9K if i recall

My old ones currently on the market for 17.5k

youll find it pretty hard to get a 185 into the country unless you can get it in under personal import , or done thru an importer like Jpsec who may be able to get the plates

if you have owned the car personally for more than 12 months a lot of the hassle is taken out of it as you dont have to meet the same rules.

so it is worth lookig into.
you WILL need things like working cat converters etc
