offset question

i have brought some rims for a very good price but im not sure if they will fit my car (caldina gtt)

they are

17 x 7JJ ET45
5 Hole Multi-stud

the stud pattern is right but i am not sure about the offset but if they dont fit its no biggie i will just flick them on trademe..

Nah they will more than likely hit the strut. You can make it sit properly with an 8mm spacer (or bigger if you want the rim to come out more).

i rang two places that sell mags and said it would go in fine but i don't trust them, however if that is the case where can i get spacers from?

mag shops generally dont know anything about exactly what offset fits what car
from memory there have been posts on this before? do a search

in a post i found it said you will only need spacers on the back to fit a subaru offset which these are can anyone verify that?

You'll have to check the law on spacers, i cant remember the details but they will work. Try the wheels on and see how far the dont fit by. You may find they do fit, but will look rude with a high offset. Thats why i have spacers on the back of the GT4.

Just get the right offset rims to start with and you wont have to $&#$% round with spacers, which will require Certification AFAIK

Wouldve though 7" rims would be a bit narrow for a Caldina too.

Just onsell em to a Honda driver, that what they sound like they are for

unfortunatley there arent a hell of a lot of 5 x 100 rims made in caldina offset, why are slip on spacers a big no no?

Yeah they are illegal.

I've used slip ons for years, custom made from solid plate though with longer wheel bolts, on the Alfa with no issues.

The idea is that your wheel must locate on the center spigot so the studs don't take all the load - on my Alfa, the wheels on the rear don't actually have a central spigot, so meh.

But yeah, illegal.

You can borrow my 20mm bolt-ons if you like, to see what size you'll need. Only got 2 on the rear tho. Im not using them cos the GT4 dont go
