GZE Timing

Hi all, this has probably been asked a million times before but how do i set the ignition timing on a 4AGZE with Distributorless ignition?
Basically i wanna know where to set the cam angle sensor and to what degrees before TDC to set timing once engine is running.

Something along the lines of getting the engine running, bridge E1 and TE1 in the diagnostics box and check the timing with a light and adjust as you want. Remove jumper when done and that should be it.

Could be wrong, but thats how I think it went.

Thanks but i know how to do that what i meant was where to set the rotor??? inside the cam angle sensor.

Turn the crank to 10°BTDC as you see it on the crank pulley and then put the Cam Angle Sensor in the hole so the pickup is pointing directly at one of the pickups and then play witht he timing from there. Pretty sure thats how I did it when I took the CAS out without marking it (stupid stupid me)

There is a proper procedure for fitting them.

same as fitting a dist a presume.

I have the info sheet but not here.

Something like,

turn the engine over until you can look through the oil filler cap and see the dot/mark in the cam signaling TDC no 1 compression.

Then there should be a mark on the shaft or toothed wheel of the dist that i think faced straight up.

I'll be back into the workshop tomorrow night so i'll grab the sheet.

Just if theres anyone else that wanted to know..

2 dots, one on the cam angle sensor gear, one on the housing, goal is to get them to line up once fitted, so you have to turn the cam angle shaft back a bit because of the helical angle the gears on. make sure you start on 10 degrees before top dead.

great info in this guys, but how do i know were 10 degrees before tdc is? i know theres markings on the covers but thats after tdc isnt it?

Na, man, they're BEFORE top dead centre. Unless of course you've got a Honda motor in there (they spin the wrong way hehehe).

i cant see the phattys pics anymore, but i dont have any cavitys on my teeth of the driven gear on my cas.

i do have a drilled hole on it tho

howevr which do i align it with? i have 2 drilled marks on the housing.+ a groove in the housing

it aligns best with the groove btw

also if looking at the crank pulley, the degree markings on the cam covers are on the RHS. isnt that ATDC??? if so how do i get 10 degrees BTDC!!!???

There should also be markings on the other side too. It normally goes to about 10 degrees after and about 20+ or so degrees before.
