4agze Suspension/Steering problems.

Postby shazeal » Wed Feb 28, 2007 4:47 pm

Hiyas.

Few months ago I had the shocks/springs (lowered 30mm)/all bushes (nolathane)/and swaybar links changed. Had a wheel alignment done etc.

Before I had all that done the car was pulling hard to the right under hard acceleration and it still does it after, when I say pulls hard i get the feeling if I didnt hold onto the steering wheel and force it straight the car would do a damn doughnut.

Now after I had it done I also had a new problem, in that whenever I take my foot off the accelerator there is a shuddering sound from the mid engine area, I had a look and looks like both the front and rear engine mounts are stuffed, the left/right mounts have age cracks in them also.

Anyway, today something went under the car piece of metal by the sound of it and was worried it might have damaged the exhaust/fuel tank so had a good look around and noticed both the front swaybar bushes are cracked through in the same place (not the gap for fitting there is a crack right the way through both about 90deg around from the fitting gap).

So I guess Im wondering, is all this related to the engine mounts being stuffed? Or could it be something more serious like stuffed inner CVs?

Thanks

Shazeal.

Well.. i went thru this last year or the year before i cant remember, when your engine mounts are stuffed you should fix them ASAP else you will chew CV's I had to get my inners custom built.

I would suggest that you do the mounts ASAP

as for the pulling, *shrug* if you have an alignment done and it still pulls i would take it back

Inners will click going straight when you power up
outers will click when turning.

if it pulls that bad, it will be those engine mounts, mine were stuffed when my car was supercharged, made passing a breeze as all i did was put my foot down and the car would be on the other side of the road

dont know if it could by why your swaybar mounts are stuffed, but could be a possibility

nolathane are known to crack, beacause of the density, and rigidity.
so especially with engine mounts gone aswell
the pulling to the right could be due to brake pads, wheel bearings, unevenly adjusted handbrake cable. jack it up and test each wheel bay
had this once before and brake discs where uneven as, and the pads well..
now with dismantled gze
