custom gearbox rubber mount?

Postby Burning Angel » Thu Mar 01, 2007 5:38 pm

Is there an easy(or cheap really) way of making a rubber mount/insulator for a gearbox. The gearbox in question is a nissan 5spd bolted to an sr20.
basicaly just need something to go between the gearbox and crossmember.

I dont really want to pay 150~200 bucks for a new one.

i have seen a soloution like this:

using a urethane block but is this legal with standard rubber engine mounts?

any help would be much appreciated

had a scrounge around a local werckers to see what there is available to adapt? I would probably tke thet route if the exact mount was not available.
depending on the car use, ive used a more solid urethane type mount on a rwd box before. Was a daily road driver, and the hard mound caused too much noise/vibration transfer I replaced it a day later.(a softer grade may have been fine)
Cant believe im still a member here.

yea noise isn't really an issue as the car is a rally car(that ill probably drive everyday anyway) but i dont want it too solid incase it ends up breaking stuff.
