Good gearbox rebuilders

Postby ATAl » Wed Feb 21, 2007 10:15 am

Hi all

Does anyone know of a place that will do a good job rebuilding (new syncros, seals, bearings and install a lsd) a gearbox in Wellington?

Price is obviously an issue, but I'm happy to pay a bit more if they will do a really good job.

Have used Miles Udy Motors several times, with good results. Cost me approx $267 to have new axle bearings, seals and lsd installed in C Series Box. I provided parts

they're cnr Wakefield & Victoria Sts Lower Hutt 569 7827

Cost me $500 for them to put in the lsd and replace syncros and seals. All parts were supplied...

Coryn, another question you can prob help me with.......who do you Supra guys use to repair your 6 speed boxes?

I have a spare BNR34 box with a buggered 4th gear synchro (same internals as the Toyota box) and wanted to get it repaired. I believe you can buy individual parts through Toyota for them but I dont trust anyone up here with a Getrag.

Cheers again :)

Andy,

I'll talk to my Toyota guy about the availibility of getting parts for that box I no it will be ex-japan but if syncros are all you need then I should be able to get them at a pretty good price as well..If you do need JZA 80 rotors aswell I'll hit him up for those aswell.
