EE100 Engine Swap

Postby carlos3 » Mon Mar 05, 2007 10:18 pm

I have a 1992 NZ new 1300cc EE100 hatchback. The engine is rather tired, so the plan is to do a swap. Can I fit a 1600cc engine straight in, or is it a bit of a major? I had expected that the only difference between the 1300 and 1600 would be the stroke, but an engine supplier reckons they have different blocks etc??
Cheers,

Yeah different block and different mounts. A GT starlet engine on the other hand, would bolt in.

supplier correct, 1300 is an e series, 1600 (im assuming you mean 4age) a series. mounts need changing & if yours is a carby, need to change to injection tank also. could always fit a 1500cc 5e, but at the end of the day, it'd be better on the wallet selling and buying the bigger engine version.
Cant believe im still a member here.

assumeing its the same set up as a EE90 a 4AGE can be put in with off the shelf mounts or a 4E also a 7A can be put in (check with some one like BAZZA on mounts) or the 1800cc NZ new motor is ment to bolt in but never done this as i got board with that chassie & went to a MA61

The nz new 1800 is the 7a. I was under the impression the mount was quite a bit more forward on one of the motors??
