where abouts are the relays for the abs unit in a ae101 corolla fxgt ?

also, are the front and rear wheel sensors the interchangable?

2nd question - each ABS sensor front/rear/left/right are not interchangeable with each other, as parts of the wiring are encased in metal shaped to attach to suspension components. Probably would be interchangeable in the way they work though

im going to try replacing the wheel sensors,

im getting a code 36 error, which relates to either the front right or left rear wheel speed sensor, correct me if im wrong ?

i managed to get the front one appart, and soldered it up again but to no avail, and tried running a new wire from the plug up the top to the sensor its self, but again to no avail, but i didnt try that with the rear one, thats tonights project i think, i dont really want to rip appart the rear one if its the front one thats faulty,

If the ABS light is not coming up on your dash then it wont be anything related to the ABS.

I didnt think that the ABS was linked in with the engine diagnostic checker? There are separate procedures for fault checking the ABS system.

And are you sure its 36? I dont think that code exists?

offen those sheets only show majour codes i know at otago polytec we had that sheet but then if you looked in the toyota made work shop manual there was like 15 more for the 1985 blue top 4AGE so they could be fault codes just not commen ones that toyota like to tell you intill you take it to them to fix it cunning barsteds

i have tried cleaning them and clearning the fault code by pumping the brake pedal 8 times within 3 seconds and it still comes up, so next step really is replacing the wheel sensors iguess

when i cleared it, it just carried on flashing 3 and then 6 flashes so i guess that means it didnt clear it at all ?

if i find out it is the wheel sensors then there should be a sticky dedicated to ABS wheel sensors, they seem to be a fairly big problem when suspention work is done,

i would recomend any one takes them out before they have any work done to their suspention, easy enough took about 5 mins to get one out,
the only down side with that is if they did mess something else up you couldnt take it back to them

so you may have now fixed the fault your still looking for if you cant clear the fault & then recheck
