i've got a smallport redtop waiting in the wings, (with undamaged crank and keyway - thats where i got my new crank pulley from) i just want to get the rest of the car sorted out before i look to up the power. im under no illusions about it being a permanent fix :)

Make sure the crank pully bolt is torqed up really tight. IIRC it's around 130 foot pounds in the manual, The friction of this being done up tight should remove the forces that shear the keyway.
