Dyno tuning in Welly...where to go?

Mate if he's going to Auks to get his car tuned and its running well I would suggest he keep going to the same guys...

Down here in Welly theres probably only 3-4 people that could do a good job..
Only one of the 4 that I would go to own there own Dyno and everyone else basically use the chequered flag Dyno-pack dyno.

Matt at Japanese performance has got some good results with Nissan's so if he doesnt want to use Andre probably he would be your best bet.

Nah thats with me supplying the e.c.u,dual channel igniter and temp sensor which Ive fabbed into my piping. They said the estimate was a little on the high side, but I could imagine that there would be quite a bit of messing around fitting the new loom which Id prefer, and setting up launch etc

Have you been quoted on install and tune with your G3?

Yeah Ill give them a shot and see how it goes, would be a fair bit of assing around so can sort of justify their estimate, well see...

Hmm I wouldnt be too sure about that one lol, I only have 22psi to play with, but hopefully I will see some good numbers :? no rush at all with the clutch just when your finished with it...

i have for the tune, tricky tune (ex gizzmo guys and gizzmo dyno), they said $6-800 for full tune

i'm lucky enough that one of the guys at work (avionics - deanis on this forum who owns the 12sec na crx) has said he'll wire it in for me, so basically some beaverages are going to swap hands :lol:

i'm sure i was told once about 400ish for an install

I would definatly reccomend Richard at The Chequered Flag, its funny how people hear only of the bad things about a place and not the good.

I worked for Richard for a while and saw many good results and happy customers, we had a few customers complain about the price of the tune (usually half the day and up to $800) but promptly come back or phone up and thank him because their car now goes like a rocket, is sooooo much faster than before and one guy came black smiling half an hour later because is was going so good that his diff blew apart.

Its also common for him to be helping the 'tuner' tune and troubleshoot thier customers cars, remember Richard has been tuning cars on a dyno for a very very long time now and has a lot of experiance over others.

Yes, Richard has been around for a very long time, I remember he was dyno tuning cars when I was just a flunky apprentice out the hutt. He's had alot of experiance with a very wide range cars from RS Cosworths to Big V8's, Very good with carbs like holleys and dellortos back in the day, I would recommend him also.

People dish all tuners, you hear it everyday, but like you say no-one ever talks about the good jobs that go out the door, I know one thing, I wouldnt want to be a dedicated tuner, imagine all the boyracer Fu*k-wits you'd have to deal with that think they know more than you...bugger that!

Im going with speedtech as they seem to be quite good with the 4a's but if they were too busy I would off called Richard and made a booking no hesitation.

Yeah there are reports of bad luck with all tuners, I personally stick with Speedtech - Speedworks in Palmy is another alternative if someone wants, they've done a few cars with OK results.
