*HELP*bouncy dieing idle

Postby bluemaumau » Thu Mar 22, 2007 1:19 pm

wow this is turning into a science/mechanics project now.

ae92 afm 4agze
so far ive replaced/reset/adjusted

ecu
tps
afm

ive done the abv mod removing the blue vsv

next up is to remove the whole intake system and retighten every single connection.

but before i do this is was hoping someone has any smart ideas as to what the problem could be?

in its current state its showing no fault codes
and revs to 1300rpm then drops to 900rpm
back up to 1300rpm - 800rpm
1300rpm-700rpm
1300rpm -600 rpm
1300rpm - 500rpm then stalls.

adjusting the idle screw just changes the highest point(1300rpm currently)

anybody? car should of been on the road 2 months ago.

will

posably hold in windings on the idle up solinoid would explane it solinoid would flick on rev up then hit the hold in windings witch are burnt out the drop back then when back spring open again on the primary/movement windings ect this would cause the solinoid to open then shut over & over again
The faster you go the quicker you get there

is that solinoid by the t/b?

it has 3 wires?

ive tried 2 t/b units and made no difference...

so if that was the problem it would have to be the wiring to it

....perhaps an air bubble in the cooling system. common issue with 4agze's in aw11's.

wtf i checked my vaccum lines today, too see if they were blocked or something,

went and turned the car on, now the bouncy idles gone and its idling at 2000rpm.

im going to remove the intake tomorrow, but was wondering if anything other than ign timing and air leaks could cause such a high idle?

ive added bluetop cams so im expecting the idle to be a little higher than standard but not 2000rpm

i cant even take it for a drive because the clutch is brand new

Have you checked the idle speed control unit? These can cause idle issues

its the 3wire solinoid.

with no power its half open, ground one side idle will go up to max, goto the other side and idle will drop to min, its just a solinoid with 2hoses to bipass TB

Theres a good write up on the ISC's at www.autoshop101.com under technical articles, no 26 is the one you want

2000rpm when cold is probably a little high, ideally should be 1500-1800. Id get it to normal operating temp see if it drops down. Although youve prob already done that

4AGZEs seem to rev highly when cold, mine usued to

As they heat up the revs slowly and gradually drop down and it wont settle into 900-1000 until the thermostat opens
