GT4 - Low Idle and Fan Problem

Postby DeeCee » Thu Mar 29, 2007 9:51 am

Morning all,

I've been having some trouble with the venerable 3sgte wanting to not run nice for me.

Basically over the last year the car has been running low a lower idle than the normal 750rpm.
This is after the car has been running around a little bit and if drop revs between shifts (common thing not trying to be a racer and keeping revs up lol) it can drop down to as low as 100rpm and sometimes cut out altogether (not handy when you going round a corner and the steering lock kicks in)

Anyway, recently I removed the aircon/heater unit under the dash and replumbed the heater pipe into its return fitting, removed all the piping from the aircon in the engine bay and all the way up to the pump.

Q:
I've done a search and before i start taking off the interwarmer and airbox etc, is there anything else i need to take into account apart from the cold idle screw at the top of the throttle body?

A search turned up something about an aircon idle up solenoid. What is that and where is it located?

Q:
Also, after removing the piping at the from for the AC, my radiator fan stays on as soon as you start the car and stays on all the time. Have i accidently removed a controller of some sort? I dont' remember there being any sort of electrical controller, or is it mechanical?

Cheers

DC

as far as the fan goes just pull the relay theres a tempture switch set to -32`c & if it sensours colder than that it turns the air con fan off but if you disconect the sensour the fan is always on

A search turned up something about an aircon idle up solenoid. What is that and where is it located?

this is a we air valve on the fire wall normaly that lets air past the TPS when the air con is on to make it idle faster when air con is on other wise the increased load would stall the car
The faster you go the quicker you get there

dont know exactly on your car but in the fuse box theres probly a relay/fuse called air con just take that out

it is just the air con fan not the cooling fan as well isent it

TPS = throttle pission sensour
The faster you go the quicker you get there

Just about that....

That will NEVER happen. The steering lock doesnt give a shiit if the motor is running or not, it works on the key being in the lock.

Theres a connector you have to bridge to stop that happening.

Whos got a st185 and has done this?
