Is this the big or small shafted W58? the 2JZ NA W58 will be fiiiine!

the smaller shafted ones... maybe not...

but all up should be fine. As long as you're not entering a drifting comp or drags (or drive like you are) any time soon.

Only just remembered about that clutch too. my bad.. you want it gone/in the way is it? can meet you at the same place a bit later tongiht if you like?

agreed , massif boosts will still kill it - a getrag is ideal behind it but the cost to purchase is horrible

Friends with 2J conversions have found this after killing a handful of them with moderate boost , and drags they should have just stuck with something stronger ..

I wonder how the r154 compares to the w58 in strength

it's stronger, the box is way beefier. thats why they put it on JZA70 instead of the W58

If you are to use the R154 make sure you do this mod (thrust washer bearing) and it should be alllll good :):

the jza80 W58 will break when drag racing with over 250 rwkW,but could handle more on the street if driven with sympathy. The 250 rwkW figure assumes the torque of a 3 litre and a 1500kg car and sticky tires. lighter cars can run higher power figures and survive longer.

i'm sure that idea would work, but it is possible to just buy the parts for the shifter to move it back if thats what you want to do. i haven't compared them side by side but it looks like the R154 shifter will bolt on to a W58 and vice versa.

Who quoted you $7000 for a getrag I think you might be able to get one for brand new out of Toyota for that price. There are a couple of people in WGTN who have these 6-speed Getrags lying around I no of at least 2 people who have them and I'm sure they will sell them for alot less than $7000..
