KE70 alternator in KE30

Postby jeremiahnz » Thu Mar 29, 2007 8:51 pm

The alternator in my KE30 died the other day. I have a spare alternator from a 4k which I think is out of a KE70. They look pretty similar but the plug for the alternator from the 4k is on the side rather then on the back. The wire pattern in the plug (F,N,E) is also different.

I want to know if I can use this alternator in the KE30 if I rewire the plug to suit the loom or whether the alternator off the 4k is internally regulated or something. If it is internally regulated what would I have to do to rewire the car to suit?

Cheers

my ke70 wagon (1984 i think) had an externally regulated alternator...
my guess would be if you rewire it so the right voltages etc go to the right pins on the new alternator it should be sweet.

For future reference, should anyone care, the KE70 alternator worked fine after rewiring.
