legal issues with interior trim?

Postby Dirtbag » Thu Mar 29, 2007 8:59 pm

I am looking to put new speakers in the back of my ae101, and need to remove all the interior trim from the doors back, would it be illegal to drive around for maybe a day or two with the trim off?

I am just wondering just in case there are hiccups with the install of the amp/speakers and everythings not fixed and fitted before needing the car again for work.

I often have no rear seats or trims, and dont have carpet its no dramas. Just be careful if you have to cut your rear parcel tray to fit the speakers i.e. the metal, it can upset the WOF man.

thats all good unless you're going for a warrent, I tried to get a wof with no back seat or belts..... got told to put them back in or I wouldn't pass.

as above, don't cut the metal in your parcel tray at all, its considered structural afaik

Yea, wasnt planning on cutting metal, just using some spacers and hoping that they will fit 8)

As long as you remove the seats, AND the seat belts you should have no trouble getting a wof. You will need to rego you car as a two seater though.

Or, you can get you car certed for it, and have no trouble what so ever.

like I said above, you wont pass (unless you find a crap wof place like snoozin ). No such thing as registering your car as a two seater. I'm sure thats been covered before

certs a different story tho, I think you will have to weld up bolt holes etc so that seats can never be put back in

Well, I worked a WOF station for a bit and it was fine every time. As long as you have your door skins and dash skin, and nothing sharp sticking out.

For the cert you don't have to do any thing with them, all my mounts and stuff are still there.

ah well, i'll keep my mouth shut then (if I could find the section the wof guy quoted i'd post it but I can't find my wof sheet.)

I had suspension points that were sharp, and probably due to being 4dr it was an issue without belts and seats

Yeah, wof guys can pull up heaps of things to fail you. But considering all the s**t laid on them, it's hard to blame them. Too many rules to follownow they aren't allowed to use comon sense any more... :(
