starter motor?

Postby rwd_mayhem » Tue Apr 03, 2007 7:27 pm

went to start my car and it just went click click. the battery isnt flat, ive taken the starter out now and pulled it apart, the brushes are mint so not them. so from reading other forums i think its the solenoid, right?

what exactly is the solenoid? the smaller part on the side of the starter that pushes the gear part out? can you buy them new?

can anyone tell me exactly what the solenoid is? is it the smaller part on the side of the starter motor that engages the gear?

yeah afaik thats the bit, its pushes the lever which in turn pushes the cog to engage on the flywheel (my average understanding)

I think you can give the pulley on the starter a wack with something hard, Ive heard that does wonders. :D
I live my life 1000RPM at a time. Nothing else matters, not the blown piston rings, the wasted distributor, the popping oil cap and all that other stuff. For those 8000RPM or more, im free.

2t starter will be similar to blue top, just change the alloy housing if necessary
