Im sure weve all done it at some point... i know i have... i think its a maturity thing, once you get tired of bov's, monsta tachs, chromes and such you start to listen...

on topic: i thought it was widely accepted that there can be no improvement over the toyota factory bov?

Widely accepted on most Toyota forums, though some people will still try and change it.

The only time I'd try to change it is if it was broken. Some of them have been known to come apart, because unlike the SW20 ones, they are made of plastic

The SW20 one has a metal body, the flow is in the opposite direction, and I think the flange may be different, so they may not be interchangable. I'll check them next week when I get a chance.

man you guys are a bunch of preschoolers :P

THIS is how i have mine set up.

(note: the air temp sensor is still hanging in its original position, i plan to move this)
I left the breather line for the rocker cover open, factory, this runs back to the stock pipe, You can sorta make out the small filter i have fitted to the idle bypass valve underneather the BOV in the last pic, this also ran back to the stock intake pipe

Hmmm, interesting place to put the pod filter, but it needs a cold air box and something to stop the water, or you'll get a performance decrease and risk damaging the engine.

FWIW a pod filter produces no detectable power increase, according to my Blitz Power Meter

i knw its not the best place, but it does a darn site better than putting a pod in place of the factory airbox, Yes i need to seal it and duct to it properly, its in testing stage. Being with the aircon radiator, and the standard, you arnt left with many options for intake routing. How have you run yours fivebob, just outta curiousity ???

If its got an intercooler does it make all that much difference in reality? I would of thought that after the air has been through the turbo its and then the intercooler the actual difference would be fairly minor? (that wasnt a retorical question)

Actually no, it's not hot air at all. There's a backing plate that isolates it from the engine bay that's not shown in that picture. That, coupled with the intake for the stock airbox and some other ducting, means the air is at close to ambient.

give me ur strut brace aswell.

It's only good for show, the stock one is probably more rigid. Had a rear one as well, but that was a PITA when you wanted to load stuff in the back, so I removed it.

Depending on turbo and I/C efficiency it's about 2.5°C charge temp increase for each 10°C difference in intake temp. Even in the worst case it's not likely to increase charge temp by much more than 10-15°C.

Perhaps not...
In my last car club (VASK), one member ran an experiment on a dyno. He took one reading with his original factory airbox, then swapped it with a $30 supercheap POD and got an instant 9kw increase. The 2 readings were done immediately after eachother so no changes in temp or petrol kind etc.

Something was wrong that the factory airbox, ie, filter was rooted.
