2wd hilux engine options

Post by overcast »

I'm looking at removing the horrible diesel engine in my 85 hilux and replacing it with a petrol one. However I dont want to go overboard on performance, just something that makes a bit of noise without the huge fuel bill. Any help appreciated.

All thirsty 6 cylinders! If it were mine, and I wanted something cheap with a bit of balls, I'd drop in a CA18DET.

lol just as thirsty.

For economy, fit a standard 2.2 camry motor, 5SFE??

Go great and use bugger all fuel,

In the $per KM stakes, used way less than my 2.8l diesil hiace even.

You realise that a smaller CC car is not more economical all the time.

Juts means that you have to put your foot down further and use even more gas than a bigger cc car to get the same result.

I had also asked this question...in the end i ended up swapping utes all together...lol
i went for the 3ltr deisel
(5L)
it cost me $5 gas from hamilton to aucks...and has plenty of torque
(its no drag machine, but it goes better than the 2.4d that u prob had)

Yeah I understand that concept. I'm just baffled as to how he gets 18km/L in his car. I would have thought if you nana'd a 1000cc engine you'd still be lucky to see that kind of economy
