the 1600cc civic type R's vs 20valves. 20 valves are pretty average from factory.. where as the type R's are fairly race orientated for a mass produced car

the 1800cc type R tegs would clean up any standard 1800cc toyota.

The s2000's would be my pick against a beams MR2 or Alteza. They have 50/50 weight distribution like the MR2 but in turn are lighter and make more power.
After all Mr'2s arnt even raced in the super GT. Supras are put up against the s2000's.

The s2000's can even claim the most KW per displacement out of any production engine. Even such engines as what go in super cars that are pretty much hand made.

As for turbo'd cars. Toyotas supra would definatly eat up a turbo honda legend/saber what ever their turbo cruiser is.

But then as far as turbo cars go id rather have a mitsubishi or nissan . What toyota has left a racing legacy like the evo or skyline GTR?

Toyotas are simple the best bang for buck, they are cheap, go hard and dont break. And when they do break they are cheap to repair.

Toyotas claim to fame is cost and reliability, not so much racing. Enter the all mighty Corolla. And the corolla i do love :D 3 out of 6 cars ive owned have been corollas, and by far have given me the least amount of problems!

The only class of car id pick a toyota for is the 1300cc. Go the starlets. Unbeatable :D

Method while I agree with some of what you say some of it I don't agree with. Why a Mitsi or a Nissan you must be joking right you have spoke about reliability but believe it or not first you must finish to win a race.If I use the 2JZ as a example you simply don't have to do alot get alot where as a RB26 or 4g63 you have to do oodles to get the power and reliability of the above mentioned Toyota motor.Again at the factory level with basic upgrades I'd put the Supra up there with any import and this is not a biased opinion it is from many track-days that I have attended over the last 5 years and have been out on the track able to compare my car against the others. With all I've seen in the last 5 years the only car that I have felt helpless against out on the track was a Porsche GT3 RS everything else with basic performance mods where it be Jap Euro or American my car has beaten or been right there all this from a car that turns 14 years old this year..

Yeah I have to agree with that post to an extent - though I've seen other RZs which are manual as well, do no where near as well as you... as I have to attribute some of those track antics to the skill of the nut behind the wheel ;)

Don't know whether you can compare S2000 with MR2. No offence to MR2 owners but I would class the S2000 alongside Z3/Z4/SLK etc. MR2 alongside MX5 etc.
The money to buy the cheapest S2000 could get you a few of the latest MR2's

I don't know what you are somking, The MR2 was raced in GT300 with the MR2 Spyder. And it was raced in Le Mans too with MC8R. They're still racing MR2 Spyders in GT300 with the Autobacs/APEX'i car last time I checked.

If you're trying to compare SW20 with S2K, you're comparing a car that was built 1989-1998, to a car that was released at 2000+. It's like saying an Altezza is compariable to an E30's BMW.

Saying Toyota has no racing heritage is like saying Chinese don't have martial arts heritage. When Toyota were racing their little KP starlets, names like Nissan and mitsubishi's are unheard of.

Now, where's the pic of me pissing all over an S2K at the last HvT dragmeet? I can't find it, I know chelles has a copy.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

2jayzgte wrote:Still running pretty much the stock motor you say that Levin must weigh like 1000-1100 odd kgs to run with Porsche's and V8 Supercars. You are right you can't beat the factory when it comes to reliability. They just seem to have built these motors so strong though you have replaced it at least once right at Manfield last year or the year before is that correct?

Just over 1100kg from memory, and damn close to 50/50 weight split.

Was rebuilt when the car was first built and had a set of rings /bearings at some stage again,
and threw a piston at Timaru just before Manfield last year or the one before.
However, in it's defense the block and pistons had done a couple of hundred hours of race time and had never been replaced, as well as the 80'000kms or so before we got it.

2jayzgte wrote:Do they plan to upgrade it go for more or are they just going to leave it as is and keep the reliability.I mean HP wise what whould it be in that 400-450 range I'm guessing but with the motor being stock and for reliability sakes I'm guessing it would not be more than this????

they did look at doing a later VVT one or cams etc etc,
but doesnt need it at this stage.

A good factory Honda will usually beat a factory toyota of a similar size with similarly skilled drivers, I've seen it many a time at manfeild etc.

And then again Vtec Preludes are sometimes good competition for my car, they have the straight line and the AW has the corner speed so it turns out pretty evenly. Factory Type R integra will eat me for breakfast.

Will be nice to see if the new bits going into my car can make me more competitive along with some driver coaching.

Still Honda Vs Toyota Trackday would be good fun.

Have you driven an 1800cc 2zzge corolla lately??

so much better than a 20V that they are probably worth the $2000 or so extra they cost.

I'd love to have a race with an S2k, dont know how well I'd go, but would be fun anyway. :)

Although my car isnt stock standard, and the S2k would more than likely still whoop my ass. lol.
