c-series diesel gearboxes

Postby l1ttle_d3vil » Wed Apr 11, 2007 11:02 pm

just after a bit more info on a gearbox...
all I know is it is comes off a rwd c-series diesel toyota engine, possibly in some camrys, corollas and coronas etc.

can anyone provide me with
a) a gearbox code for the box im talking about
b) a more specific engine code for the diesel engine these came behind

these gearboxes are supposedly pretty rare but hopefully this info will make my search for them a bit easier! any help is appreciated.

cheers.

Are you sure it's not a T40/50 or W50/55 off a C Series engine? i.e 1C, 2C etc? Not a C series gearbox as such???

Hmmm..... :?

hmmm a rwd box that sits behind a diesel engine....

you dont happen to have any pics at all do you?

I have a box in Taranaki that looks like a W55 at first glance but after working ratios out it seems to be more of a commercial / diesel box

I think the CE7somethingorother's (Diesel DX wagon) came with a 1C and T40 or 50. This may be what you're talking about?

RWD toyota cars I have seen have had W5x boxes...
For example - CA64 (I think) diesel carina wagon with W56 (shorter 1st and 2nd gear compared to W55).

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

nah dont have any pics sorry. are these 1c and 2c engines very common? not too fussed on the gearbox, just want to find a bellhousing for one of these engines, but if the bellhousing is for a w55/6 then even better!

all 1C/2C RWD cars we've had in here have had W56 gearboxes in them

HDJ81- 112AWKW @ 10psi), FC3S (Tarmac Spec 335rwhp@11psi), 3SGTE stroker - replacement body found.

are those bellhousings very common? would the front half of the bellhousing from a fwd 2C engine be the same as a rwd 2C?

common as pies!
most rwd C engines have a W or G box of some sort.
1S/2S engines have same bellhousing as the C like found in SA60 celica/carina, ST141 corona and sx80 5sfe. (they are not stamped which engine they fit like other toyota bellhousings) watch out for the aussie st141 as they have a borg warner box (apparently the bell may fit a T50 but dont quote me). SA60 also come with a 22spline T50 behind the 1S.

G52 box from diesel van ie cr30 townace, masterace with 1c, 2c, 2c-t etc have same gbox bolt pattern as W55 etc. so theres shitloads of em in vans.
i will pick up these from pickapart if someone has already pulled the engine out and left the box there so if you're after a C-W bell let me know.

the 1S-T50 bellhousing are much harder to source and alot of the fraser car owners seek them.

ce71 diesel corolla wagon have a w51 or w56 and the bellhousing has the slight difference of different clutch fork and the clutch slave cylinder is slightly different spot to the van bellhousing. but same bolt pattern etc.

to fit to a 3s (fwd engine).. the crank end sits in a different spot to the rwd 1s and 2s so need to adapt the spigot bearing position so the gbox input shaft reaches it.. or shave the front face of bell and possibly space starter motor.
